THE BIG REUNION
HELD ON 28.2.04

As a result of an impending visit to the UK by Jan Gamblin, a reunion was set up
by Anne Gotting and Karen Budd for Saturday 28th of February, to be held
at Karens house in deepest Somerset. (and I mean deepest!)

THE BIG DAY!
We all actually arrived at more or less the same time, so there was lots of
screaming and shouting outside in the road before we finally moved into Karens
super house where she and Anne (Gotting) had put on a really good spread.

It was all a bit hectic as most of us did not in fact recognise each other, but when
we discovered who was who there was a lot more screaming, shouting, hugging and kissing!
Most of us had not in fact met for some 40 odd years although incredibly,
five of those present live around the Taunton area.
I had managed to arrange for JPT (who is working in Borneo)
to call Karen's phone at about 1330 hrs, and he actually managed to get it right!
As a result everybody had a chat with him during the 30 minute phone call!
(NB. Probably due to an excess of red wine, a few days before the reunion,
JPT dialled Karens number when he was actually trying to call me - at five in the morning!!)
During the phone call Champagne was produced and consumed to mark the occasion.
The large amount of sandwiches and other snacks that Karen and Anne had supplied
were also most welcome, particularly by those of us who had travelled from afar.
Loads of photos were produced, some of which I've never seen before,
and included a newspaper cutting of a sports day. (see below)
This had a photo of Stuart Hannaford in the high jump and all the results.
Throwing the cricket ball was won by young Insall, with Mike Fellows a runner up!
It does say that John Gotting won the Victor Ludorum, but I think he won the junior version.

Left to right rear are -  Richard Masters, Anita Ford, Peter Cupit, Laurance Smethurst, Karen Budd, Moi!
Front - Jan Gamblin, Lorraine Humber, Anne Edwards, Mags Oldrieve, Anne Gotting,
and Mike Fellows (all he had to do was look at the camera!)
Mrs Hollingworth took the photo.

Five people in the above photo are also in the pic below!

Below are three photos of a report in the local paper about the SO sports day with Stuart Hannaford as the star!
I think there are several items that are incorrect .
It says that SH was a member of South Devon Cricket Club, But I don't think he was!
It says that John Gotting won the Victor Ludorum, but in fact he won the junior cup, and I won the senior VL!!
They also put me down as 'B' Insall at one point!  Looking at some of the results,
I can't help thinking the reporter had had more than a two Martini lunch!
For example it says that P Cupit beat both M Insall and S Hannaford in the discus - I don't think so!!
You just can't trust those hacks!!
