I now live in Hedge End near Southampton in Hampshire,
But wish I was back in Devon - maybe one day!
MIKE FELLOWS
I have today, 24th of October, received an email from
Karen (Budd) sadly to tell me that Mike Fellows has died.
At the moment I have no other details.
His
funeral will be held at Ipplepen Church
on Tuesday 27th October at 2.p.m.
I think he was aged about
64.
BRIAN
HUNT
Sadly, I have bee informed by Brian Hunts son that he
died on September 6th as a
result of a terminal illness which developed a few months ago - He was aged 74.
He leaves a wife and
son, Damian.
Brian came to the school without having had any teacher
training at all, which must have been a daunting task.
He taught both maths and science, and was the timekeeper at the school sports
day.
One pupil remembers how kind he had been to her when she was being bullied.
Despite maths not being one of my stronger subjects (I didn't have a strong
subject except cricket!)
all those hours of slogging over log books suddenly became more than a bit
useful
when I started training as a land surveyor in the Army!
Although he had also been suffering with ME for some years, we exchanged many
emails regarding a variety of subjects, especially about aspects of Devon, and
my experiences when working in Africa.

There is a fantastic web site for Knowles Hill School that can be visited at
the address below. It was set up and operated by Spencer Childs who was at KH
a bit before my time although my sister knew him. However, Spencer contacted me
recently and asked me if I could take the site on as he was unable to continue
running it.
I have agreed to do so for a while anyway.
