This is the gas pipeline I worked on.
For whatever reason, both the pipe up-stands on the right , and a valves and
stoppel
on the left they were supposed to connect to were in the wrong position.
I firstly set up a corrected local grid, then surveyed all various items, and
thence
was able
to come up with the actions needed to ensure the pipes were moved to the
correct place.
All this was done in an area that resembled the Somme battlefield!
I now have the
FIRST AID AT WORK
four day First Aid course as approved for
the
purpose of the Health & Safety regulations.
I also have the CSCS card and
the EUSR Cross Country Pipeline
safety certificate that allows me to
work on any pipeline in the UK.
The sort of work I'm looking for would be as a Setting Out Engineer, Condition
Surveyor, Civil Inspector, Site Representative
or similar type of position for
projects covering an area around the South of England, The Channel islands or
Europe.
I also have considerable experience in the oil industry as a
CIVIL INSPECTOR / SUPERVISOR / STEEL STRUCTURES SUPERVISOR.
I would also consider a position as sub agent / site manager on a small
site.
I have the EUSR Cross Country Pipeline safety certificate
that allows me to
work on any pipeline in the UK.
I HAVE EXPERIENCE OF THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION
Setting out for all kinds of
structures, roads, piling, drainage, holding down bolts,
lift shafts, brickwork, internal drainage, earthworks, pipelines and pipeline
spreads.
Setting out checks prior to start of excavation.
The survey of existing buildings and the setting up of local grids related to existing buildings.
Setting up of site controls for both local and national grid
systems and grid lines with profiles.
Small site surveys and level grids - height surveys of
structures, pylons, trees etc.
Condition surveys with detailed reports including high quality
photography.
Deformation checks and surveys of structures, storage
tanks, embankments etc.
Boundary surveys and checks.
Level surveys for all purposes including flooding checks,
subsidence and feasibility studies.
Plumbing and lining and snagging of steel framed buildings.
Setting out work should involve using a
TOTAL STATION AND CO-ORDINATES.
Some of my equipment and my Nikon Total Station
I have my own Total Station, a Theodolite, an Auto
level,
Lap Top with AutoCad
and Broadband
and lots
of other equipment including of course my own PPE.
I consider I am one of the best equipped engineers on the market!
(I know of one engineer who turned up on a new contract without even a note book!!
and I've just had another call today regarding a
job where the
'cheap' engineer is not up to it and needs to be replaced!)
I'm also very skilled in setting up the survey controls on a site in a way that will make it
very easy for the engineers to set up their
instruments ANYWHERE ON THE SITE!
Most surveyors and engineers put stations in totally the wrong place,
making
access extremely difficult and time consuming!
I've actually been on sites where it's taken me all
morning just to get started!
WHY DO THEY DO THAT? - IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!
